Even when the Longwood Venues staff celebrates, they do so with the client experience in mind. That’s why they treat each year’s Leadership Meeting as a chance to explore new and old processes, as well as try out and taste some creative culinary fare for which Longwood is legendary.

Once a year, the 80 managers and executives of Longwood Venues come together to celebrate their successes over the past year. The event sees a full day of entertainment, employee recognition, and good eats. The day not only serves as a time to appreciate the year’s hard work, but for the venue hosting, a time to show off the creativity and wow colleagues at this no-holds-barred event. This event included olive oil tastings, interactive cooking demonstrations, and a surprise ballet performance – for starters.
The Big Little Things
Renovations on Display
A major bonus of hosting this year’s meeting at Alden Castle was to show off the venue’s newest renovations. The Vintage Ballroom was stripped of its heavy drapes and received both a new coat of paint and wallpaper. The mezzanine was also extended, adding more square footage for two new lounge seating areas. It was the team’s first go at hosting an event with the changes, and the attending Longwood staff wasn’t let down by the creative use of beautifully renovated space.
Royal Family-Approved Fare
Longwood’s culinary team uses the day to showcase dishes that may just end up on the menu. 2018’s event featured crispy beet fries (which have become a crowd favorite), a marble caviar board, and a virgin version of Goldschlagger that was created by adding edible gold flakes to still water. The dish that stole the show, though, was the seared Loch Duart Scottish salmon, because it seems like an obvious menu item for the venue, until you realize the only other facilities in the U.S. that serve this particular salmon are owned by Thomas Keller, Per Se, and Gordon Ramsay. And if that’s not enough, this salmon is a Royal Family favorite – served at Kate and William’s wedding and recently, Meghan and Harry’s.
